Swedbank Ieguldījumu Pārvaldes Sabiedrība is an experienced investment management company with a long-term strategy that offers 2nd and 3rd pillar plans for pension savings.
In asset management, we cooperate with one of the largest asset management companies in the Nordic region - a Swedbank Group company Swedbank Robur Fonder AB that has been active since 1967. This gives us access to a very wide selection of business partners which also means lower costs for our customers.
The 2nd and 3rd pillar pension assets are managed drawing on the many years of experience of Swedbank Robur Fonder in international markets and combining it with our own local market expertise and vision, as well as working together with our counterparts in the Baltics in the field of local investments.
With a view to maximizing the return on pension capital, we follow the active management approach in the process of investment. This allows us to promptly react to financial market developments, increasing or decreasing holdings in securities with the highest fluctuations.
We combine direct investments in hand-picked companies and government securities with investing in index funds and in their solutions, as well as actively investing in Latvian and Baltic companies with high growth potential and in real estate.
Although our investment strategy is to keep the majority of our managed pension assets globally diversified thereby benefitting from exposure to global financial market activity and growth and minimizing the risks inherent in a single country or region, we also maintain a focus un activity in the local Baltic market.
Benefits from investing in Latvia and the Baltics:
- Encourages the emergence of new innovative companies;
- Facilitates the development of small and medium sized enterprises;
- Brings back money to local economy.
We see added value here for our customers in the long-run, at the same time also supporting the Latvian economy.
We are currently among the most active ones in Latvia and among the most experienced ones in the area of alternative investments. Namely, those are investments in robust real estate and venture capital - in innovative, unlisted companies. Also, part of our holdings is in the stocks and bonds of local companies.
The team behind Swedbank Ieguldījumu Pārvaldes Sabiedrība AS consists of 7 people. Together with the Swedbank Robur team in Sweden and the investment management companies in Estonia and Lithuania, we’re over 250 employees, including 55 portfolio managers and analysts. The professionals of all the four countries take an active part in asset management to deliver maximum growth of pension savings for our customers.

We act as a responsible asset manager, taking into account in management processes the impact of investment decisions on environmental, social and corporate governance principles in management processes.
Therefore, in 2019 the Responsible Investment Policy was elaborated that is reviewed and updated on a regular basis. In 2021 this policy was supplemented with a description of the actions we take to integrate sustainability risks in investment decisions.
We have also elaborated a process description about assessing adverse sustainability impacts of investment decisions. We pay close attention to how the operations of companies impact environmental, social and corporate governance principles.
Swedbank pension plan assets are invested in companies that:
- ensure business transparency and take action against corruption
- use green energy and minimize environmental pollution
- restrict activities causing climate change
- invest in local market development and promotion of voluntary work
- take care of the safety, health and education of employees
- offer equal opportunities and promote diversity in workplaces
We believe that such investment policy allows the reduction of sustainability-related risks and improves the long-term return on pension capital.
