To ensure that shopping online is safe, activate the internet shopping option by logging in to your Internet Banking user profile. Online purchases can be confirmed with Smart-ID, PIN calculator or eID card if the online store has joined the secure shopping system Mastercard Identity Check. You can pay for purchases of up to EUR 50 by simply holding the card against the card reader. One beep and you’re good to go! You can enable and disable this feature via Internet Banking or our mobile app. You can also pay for everyday purchases with a smartphone or a smart watch. “Omniva” ensures easy and convenient sending and receiving of packages not only in Latvia but in all Baltic states. Send your package using the wide parcel machine network or choose delivery with a courier.

To be eligible for a Swedbank ISIC card, the person needs to be at least 6 years old and study at an educational institution accredited in Latvia.

The card can be ordered by the child’s parent or legal guardian.

If the child already has a bank account at Swedbank, then you can order a card here.

If you already have an account with Swedbank, you can conveniently apply for the card yourself in the Internet Banking site’s section “Cards” or at any Swedbank branch. If you’re not yet a customer of our bank, press the button “Find out more” and become our customer.

  • We want online shopping to be safe for you. To shop online, activate this feature for each of your Swedbank cards separately. Find out more about secure internet shopping.
  • Before buying anything, make sure that the online retailer is trustworthy and safe.
  • Try to find out more about the retailer. Every website must contain information about the company – its name and location, as well as the e-mail address and phone number you can use to get in touch in case of any problems. The terms and conditions regarding delivery, returns and warranty must also be clear, as well as the procedure for lodging complaints. Don’t fall for discounts that seem too good to be true.
  • Unless you shop online frequently, we suggest activating the Internet shopping option only at the time of making the purchase.
  • You can protect your funds by setting usage limits suitable for you. You can set individual limits for purchases, as well as cash and payment transactions.
  • The usage limits can be changed on the Internet Banking site under “My cards” or via Swedbank mobile app.
  • If necessary, the limits can also be temporarily increased.
  • Along with the bank card, you will also receive a PIN that will be known to you only.
  • Memorize the PIN. Don’t write it down on the card or anywhere else where somebody could see it.
  • Don’t reveal the PIN to bank employees or anyone else.
  • New! You can check your card’s PIN code in the Swedbank app. It’s secure, easy and will help you in case you forget your PIN code.
  • Try to enter the PIN in a way that nobody else could see it because the card can be stolen and used by another person. You as a customer hold responsibility for any purchase made with your stolen card that has been confirmed with the PIN.
  • Immediately change the PIN if you suspect that somebody else knows it. You must also change the PIN if you get a message from the bank saying that you need to change the PIN. This is possible at any Swedbank ATM.
  • When choosing the new PIN, don't use any old PIN. Don’t use the same PIN for several cards.
  • When you pay by card, do not let the person serving you take the card out of your sight as the card data can be stolen.
  • If your card has been lost, block it immediately in our app or internet banking site. If you blocked your card in the app or the internet banking site, you can unblock it or order a replacement card within 10 days from blocking your card.
  • Do not send your card number by post or reveal it via the phone to anyone because your card data could be used by somebody for fraudulent transactions.
  • Be careful when using other bank ATMs. Make sure you have collected your bank card and the requested amount of cash before you leave the ATM.
  • When you pay by card, always double-check that the amount is correct before making the purchase. Also, try to regularly check previous card transactions in your Internet Banking user account or the Swedbank mobile app. If a transaction seems suspicious, contact the bank.

Using cash not only brings environmental issues but also may support the shadow economy. By moving from cash to digital payments, we can protect our planet, remove the anonymity of transactions, and even more - save time spent managing money.

  1. Pay digitally. It helps you track your expenses, set the limits for certain expense categories, and identify where you can manage your consumption habits.
  2. Be aware of non-recyclable receipts. Paper receipts are made from non-recyclable thermal paper. When paying by card, ask for a paperless receipt which you can receive online by e-mail or opt-out.
  3. Contactless payments are clean and hygienic. By using contactless payments, you can reduce the physical contact between different people who are exchanging banknotes or touching the ATM.

The total volume of card payments in the Baltics increased by 45% during the last 6 years. Paying by card is hygienic, quick and flexible - use contactless or chip and PIN transactions.
