Starting from June, we will gradually start issuing Swedbank payment cards with an updated design:

  • Optimized for new digital payment solutions
  • Easy to distinguish in both physical and digital environment
  • Card number and personal data on the back of the card
  • Easy to manage in our mobile app and in other supported digital wallets
  • We issue card when the existing card expires or when a new card is ordered

  • You can activate and deactivate contactless payment feature for your card from Internet bank or Swedbank app.
  • For the purposes of safety of transactions, we have the right to ask to confirm the purchase with PIN.

  • We want to make online shopping safer for you. That’s why you must activate the internet shopping option for each of your MasterCard or Visa cards issued by Swedbank. Find out more

Contactless payments with digital wallets

  • Order your card easily from the Internet Bank. Card can be delivered by post to your home or your workplace. You will receive it within 4-6 days.
  • After receiving the card, activate it in the internet bank to start using it. The card needs to be activated in the internet bank within 60 days. Otherwise, it will be closed after 60 days. When activating renewed card (within 30 days after the old card‘s expiry date), the old card will no longer be valid. Destroy the old card in a safe manner.

Please note! For automatically renewed cards, the PIN code does not change.

  • If ordering card by post, the PIN of your new card will be displayed in the Internet Bank when you activate it.

The fee is debited automatically upon activation of the card. The fee for a card produced after expiry of the previous card's validity period is payable by the customer in the last month of the validity period of the previous card or upon activation of the card.
Accelerated production and delivery of card 35.00

Ordering card on working days till 13:30, production and delivery of card to branches “Ķīpsala” (Rīga, Balasta dambis 15) and “Spice” (Rīga, Jaunmoku street 13) within 4 business hours. Card delivery to branches outside of Riga next business day.

The fee is charged in addition to the production and delivery fee. Accelerated card production and delivery can be ordered at branches or by phone via Telephone Banking on 67 444 444. No additional fee for ordering the card is charged.

Monthly fee 1.41 For account holders up to the age of 22 and for account holders from the age of 65 - 50% discount. The card’s monthly fee is debited automatically from the customer’s account at the start of each month for each month when the card has been in customer’s use.

Currency exchange mark-up 2% The fee is charged if the transaction (purchase or cash withdrawal) is made in a currency other than the card currency. Claim processing Free of charge If processing of the claim involves obtaining documentary proof of transactions, then a fee will be charged to the amount of the actual cost of the service.
Closing
Closing the card Faster and easier via Internet Banking and the mobile app Free of charge Cards can be easily and quickly suspended in the mobile app, and will be closed automatically within 10 days.

If you have lost your card or it is stolen, please block your card easily in our Internet Bank, Swedbank app or call +371 67 444 444.

  • We want to make online shopping safer for you. That’s why the internet shopping option must be activated in case of each MasterCard and Visa cards that have been issued by Swedbank and are used to make purchases online.

  • Before you make a purchase online, make sure the store is safe.
  • Try to find out more information about merchant. Every website should have information about the name and location of the company and an e-mail address and telephone number to use, should you have any problems. There should also be information about deliveries and returns, the procedure for submitting complaints as well as warranty terms and conditions. Don’t fall for discounts that seem to be too unrealistic.
  • Use a welcome text in the Internet shopping programme that is as personalised as possible. Every time you make a purchase online, ensure that the welcome text is the same as the one you set when you signed up to the programme.
  • If you only rarely make purchases online using your bank card, we advise you to activate the Internet shopping option only for the moment of making the purchase.
  • You can protect your money by choosing usage limits that suit you. You can set separate limits for purchases, cash and payment transactions.
  • You can change Usage Limits in Internet bank under My Cards or in the Swedbank app.
  • You can also increase your limits temporarily if necessary.
  • When you get your bank card, you will also receive a PIN that is known only to you.
  • Memorise it, do not write your PIN on the card or anywhere else where it can be seen by others.
  • Do not tell or show your PIN to anyone, not even to bank employees.
  • Try to enter your PIN so that no one else can see it, because your card could be stolen and used by somebody else. If the payment with a stolen card is confirmed with the PIN, it is the customer’s liability.
  • If you suspect that your PIN has become known to someone else or if the bank has notified you of the need to change your PIN, you must change it immediately. You can do so at any Swedbank ATM.
  • When selecting your PIN, do not re-use your old PIN. Do not use identical codes for different cards for the purpose of memorising them.
  • Make sure you always know where your bank card is. If you pay by card, do not let the person serving you take it to a back room on their own, because your card data can be stolen.
  • If you lose your card, immediately block it in the mobile app or call the Consultation Centre and ask them to close it.
  • It is not recommended, to send your card number by post or give it on the telephone when making a purchase, because your card data could be used for fraudulent transactions, but if there are no other possibilities, please, be extra careful.
  • Be careful when using the ATMs of other banks. Some ATMs return your card before dispensing the money. Make sure you have your bank card and the requested amount of cash before you leave the ATM.
  • Only the person whose name appears on the card, may use the card. Do not let anyone, even a close person, to use your card.
  • Always check the transaction amount that you are approving with the card.
  • Follow up your card transactions regularly in your internet bank or in the Swedbank app. If any transaction seems suspicious, please contact the bank.
