Purchase insurance

The insurance is valid for 365 days from the time of purchase for most items, including clothing, sports equipment, electrical appliances, etc.

Online shop shipment protection

The protection applies to a shipment from an online shop if it is delivered damaged or not delivered at all and the retailer refuses to reimburse the damage, re-ship or replace the goods.

Event ticket insurance

The cost of tickets to public events in Latvia – concerts, theatre performances, conferences and sporting events – are covered if the tickets have been purchased by the credit card holder and you or your family member are unable to attend the event due to illness, death, accident, transport disruption or other circumstances set out in the terms and conditions.

Card properties

  • A credit limit from 800 EUR – use it as backup money or for larger purchases.
  • Zero-interest period for up to 40 days – repay the card payments amount by the next month’s 10th date.
  • The zero-interest period applies to purchases made with the credit card. When a payment is made from the credit card's account, interest starts to accrue immediately. When paying by card (e.g. in shops), a zero-interest period is applied.
  • Repay the credit limit at a time convenient for you and pay interest only on the credit limit you have used. The interest will be charged on the payment day. You can view the accrued interest via Internet Banking under “Cards” > “My cards”.
  • Add your own funds and use your credit card as a daily payment method with no interest charged, while enjoying additional benefits.

How does it work?

  • Purchases paid for by card are protected – you have the opportunity to file a a card transaction claim.
  • If your purchase has been delivered damaged or not delivered at all, fill out a card transaction claim via Internet Banking.
  • The amount of the card transaction claim compensation is the amount of your purchase.

Card transaction claim information

The items for which your card transaction claim has been rejected are protected by purchase insurance.

The items you’ve paid for by a bank transfer or the items for which your card transaction claim was rejected are protected by purchase insurance. The item must have a delivery tracking number.

  • If the item was was not received, select “Service not provided / merchandise not received” as the reason for the claim. Fill out the required fields and send the message.
  • If the goods received are not as described, select “Goods / services received are defective / not as described” as the reason for the claim. Fill out the required fields and send the message.

  • Durable goods are insured against theft, damage or destruction, even if this happens through own fault. Durable goods are items that have a useful life of at least 3 years. The useful life of products is determined by the manufacturer.
  • The insurance is valid for 365 days from the time of purchase for most items, including clothing, sports equipment, electrical appliances, etc.
  • The insurance is valid from the time the credit card agreement is signed and remains in force until the agreement is terminated or switched to other type of credit card.
  • The insurance is valid if the credit card agreement is in force continuously from the time of purchase until the insurance claim is made.
  • Proof of purchase and payment must be submitted to make the insurance claim.

The sums insured are per each insured item, each insured event and each calendar year.

  • For a special group of insured items – 400 EUR Computers, tablets, their parts and external devices, mobile phones, glasses (including sunglasses), watches, unique items, jewelry (including precious stones, precious metals and pearls), a damaged or undelivered item from an online shop.
  • The deductible for each insured event – 30 EUR

When will it come in handy?

  • Ticket costs are covered if you or a member of your family are unable to attend the event due to illness, death, accident, transport disruption or other circumstances specified in the terms and conditions.
  • The insurance applies to public events taking place in Latvia – concerts, theatre performances, conferences and sports events – if the tickets have been purchased by the credit card holder.
  • Purchase tickets by paying with a credit card or by transfer from the credit card’s account. The insurance is valid if the credit card agreement is in force continuously from the time of purchase until the insurance claim is made.
  • The total amount of tickets insured per calendar year is 1000 EUR.
  • No deductible, but the amount of insurance indemnity for unused tickets must be at least 30 EUR.

The fee is debited automatically after activation of the card. The fee for a card produced after expiry of the previous card's validity period is payable by the customer in the last month of the validity period of the previous card or after activation of the card.

How to Apply

  1. Apply for the credit card via Internet Banking.
  2. We will inform you of the decision by phone or via SMS.
  3. Read the conditions, accept them and sign the agreement (new lending transactions may be concluded and credit cards may be activated via Internet Banking between 7 AM and 10 PM). Automated aggregation and registration of data on transactions concluded during the day takes place after 10 PM and, pursuant to the Consumer Rights Protection Law, it is prohibited to enter into consumer lending contracts during night time until 7 AM.
  4. After signing the agreement, you can immediately start using the credit card limit.
  5. Your card will arrive within 5 working days.
  6. When you receive your card, log in to Internet Banking or in mobile app and activate it there (new lending transactions may be concluded and credit cards may be activated via Internet Banking between 7 AM and 10 PM). Automated aggregation and registration of data on transactions concluded during the day takes place after 10 PM and, pursuant to the Consumer Rights Protection Law, it is prohibited to enter into consumer lending contracts during night time until 7 AM.

Income

  • Your after-tax income must be at least EUR 600 (for Platinum EUR 670) per month.
  • You must be earning a steady income for at least 6 consecutive months and your probation period must be over.

Obligations

  • Monthly expenses for covering your credits may not exceed 40% of your monthly income.
  • You may not have outstanding credits in Swedbank or from other creditors or unpaid bills for different services.
  • Be ready to submit the official documents evidencing the income if the expected source of repayment is not a salary/wages.

FAQ

A credit card is a payment card with which you can pay for goods and services in shops and online. A credit limit of funds is made available on the credit card. The advantage of a credit card is the free benefits that come with it – purchase and travel insurance, partner offers, etc. If you pay with a credit card and spend your own personal money, you don't have to pay interest for it. If you use the credit limit made available on your credit card account, you will have to pay interest on the amount drawn. An interest-free period means that you do not have to pay interest on purchases if you make them within a certain period and repay the amount drawn by the end of the interest-free period. No interest is payable on purchases made with the Gold Credit Card before the end of the current month if the credit limit drawdown is repaid by the 10th date of the following month (inclusive). Credit and debit cards are payment cards that can be used to pay for goods or services. When paying by credit card, you can use both your own money and borrowed money. On the other hand, you can only use your personal funds when paying with a debit card. A credit card offers various extra benefits, such as purchase and travel insurance. Shortly before the credit card expires, the bank makes a new card with a new expiry date and mails it to the address specified by the customer. After receiving the card, it must be activated via Swedbank Internet Banking under “Cards” > “My cards”. You can order a new credit card in the “Cards” > “Credit cards” section of the Internet Banking site by filling in the information required in the application form. Once the application is approved, the card will be mailed to the postal address specified. If you've lost your card, forgotten your PIN or something else has happened, you can request replacement of the card via Internet Banking under “Cards” > “My cards” > “Replace card”. A replaced credit card has the same expiry date as the previous card and is sent to the postal address specified. The Gold Credit Card comes with included travel insurance that protects the whole family from unexpected worries and expenses. The insurance is valid if you have an active credit card agreement at the time of travel, even if you bought the trip with another card and before the credit card was taken out. To pay with the credit card in online shops, activate the “Internet shopping” feature via Internet Banking under “My cards” or in our mobile app under “Cards” > “Settings”. A new card is produced and delivered within 4–6 working days after a positive decision has been made on granting the credit card. The card’s PIN can be checked in the Swedbank mobile app under “Cards” by tapping the “Card PIN” button. You can change it at your nearest Swedbank ATM by selecting “Other operations” > “Change PIN”. A renewed card will have the same PIN as the previous card. In the “Cards” section of the mobile app, tap the “Add Apple Wallet” button, confirm with Smart-ID PIN2 and tap “Next”. To add the card to Apple Pay, read and accept the terms. After acceptance, the card will be added to Apple Pay. In the “E-wallets” section of the Swedbank mobile app, tap the “Manage” button and select the card to be added. The action must be confirmed with Smart-ID PIN2 and the terms must be read and accepted. In a text message, you will receive a code to be entered in the “E-wallets” section and will need to tap “Continue”. To pay with Google Pay, set it as your default payment method. If you wish to receive a card with a new expiry date, apply for the same type of credit card by completing the application form and entering a comment in the “Additional information” field regarding the production of a new card with a longer validity period.

  • You have received a negative SARS-CoV-2 RNS or antigen test result within 72 hours prior to the start of the trip. In this case the supplementary insurance is valid for 30 days.
  • You have been infected with Covid-19 within the last 6 months and you have fully recovered.
  • You have a certificate of full vaccination against Covid-19.

For example, we will compensate medical expenses related to treating Covid-19 abroad, cost of accommodation and additional transport costs if you are not allowed to travel by public transport due to Covid-19 symptoms.

Damages incurred due to travel disruptions or trip cancellation caused by actions or decisions of national authorities, including decisions related to the pandemic (such as closing borders, requiring compulsory self-isolation by persons arriving to the country) shall not be compensated.
