Secure Internet Shopping (3D Secure System)

3D Secure system: double protection for your card when you shop online
Swedbank offers secure online shopping protection system – 3D Secure designed by the international card organizations VISA and MasterCard. It makes shopping much safer at online stores that have implemented this protection system.

On Swedbank’s Internet Banking site, you can register your card for twice as safe online shopping. All you need to do is set up your own identification message and password that you will be prompted to enter when doing online shopping by card. 

From 13 October 2011, registration of Swedbank cards with the 3D Secure system will be a mandatory requirement if you will want to continue using the card for shopping online.

How it works?

When you make a payment at an online store, the 3D Secure system protects your card by two additional protection mechanisms – firstly, by your identification message and, secondly, by your password. Every time you shop online, the identification message set up by you will be shown in the transaction confirmation window and you will be prompted to enter the password.

The identification message will be visible and the password will always be required before online purchases only on the sites of Internet retailer who use and are registered with the 3D Secure security system. When buying from a merchant not registered with the 3D Secure system, starting from 13 October 2011 your Swedbank card will still need to be registered with the secure shopping system in order to make the purchase.

When shopping online, always make sure that the identification message shown matches the one set up by you. If the text of the message differs, do not enter your password and report it to the bank by calling 67 444 444 or e-mailing to info@swedbank.lv!

Keep in mind that account holders must register each card for secure online shopping separately. Renewed or replaced cards must be re-registered.
